Mentoring Confidence

Building a #mentoring programme in your organisation

by Clare Kennelly on 13-09-2021

With more emphasis on workplace #Wellbeing and self-improvement, companies are investing in development opportunities for their #Employees to keep them fulfilled and happy at work.
Aoife O'Brien Happier at Work podcast

#Mentoring is one way to do that.

I had the great honour of mentoring a group of #VisionImpaired and #Blind Transition Year #Students during the academic year 2020/21.

It all took place on virtual platforms Zoom and Microsoft Teams in collaboration with the NCBI - Working for People with Sight Loss.

#GenZ students from #Donegal to #Cork#Roscommon to #Wexford and #Limerick to #Louth attended.

So why is #MentorShip so valuable for students with #Disabilities

*They could benefit from meeting #Professionals both with and without disabilities.

*Meeting a #diverse network of professionals will help mentees start to develop contacts and gain multiple perspectives into the world of work and #Professions of interest.

We were joined by #Industry #Leaders on our Reverse Mentorship initiatives. This meant that the #Mentors parked any limiting beliefs and learned as much from the #Mentees as the Mentees did from them.

This included an insight into Gen z, Assistive Technology, and alternative routes into the #Workplace.
We asked the question:
“Are you ready to receive us?”

#Mentoring is a valuable and worthwhile endeavour. If your #organisation is planning on getting involved in Mentoring #Disabled #Graduates or #DisabledStudents, feel free to contact us about ##Disability #Awareness #Training and our courses on #ConfidentMentoring.
