Recently, many #graduates with varying #disabilities #NeuroDiversities have contacted me regarding #Aptitude #Testing. These #assessment techniques, whether they are for #inductive#numerical or #verbal reasoning act as barriers for #DisabledPeople.
When graduates have disclosed their #disability and asked for #ReasonableAccommodation in regards to these #AssessmentTests, all that they have been offered is “extra time”. Extra time is not #UniversalDesign.
I know #Businesses want to be #inclusive. Therefore, it is time to look at how you assess your #candidates. Are the #tools being used only fit for a certain group in society? Remember one size does Not fit all.
Why are 50% of graduates with disabilities unemployed in the #RepublicOfIreland? if we are successful in a Universally designed #educational environment, we can also be successful in a Universally designed #WorkPlace.
